When two of the auto world’s biggest parts suppliers decide to merge in a €11.4 billion deal, it sure has a major effect on most of the carmakers. Together, these two companies indeed supply parts to almost every major carmaker including VW, GM, Ford, DaimlerChrysler, Toyota, BMW, Renault and Porsche. On the other hand, with the pooling of resources of these two giants, we’re likely to see more advanced technologies coming to cars sooner and at a lower cost too. In fact, Continental now has a firm position among the top-5 part-suppliers world wide and is #2 in Europe with a product portfolio covering the range of prevailing automotive components on safety, climate protection and communication networks including infotainment.
Mr. Cambier will discuss strategic drivers as well as technical-product related issues involved with this merger. Of course you are most welcome to participate with questions and comments. Afterwards, there is opportunity to visit the partly rebuild Mechelen Continental plant.
